Sikkim Chief Minister pS Tamang has said that all possible help from the state government would be given to the avalanche victims.
Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Tuesday evening visited STNM hospital Sochaygang to meet injured victims of the Avalanche.
Speaking with the media, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang assured all possible help from the state government, “I am extremely saddened by the incident which has occurred. Many tourists have been rescued so far. However, the search would still continue tomorrow.
He added that the NDRF team would reach Sikkim tomorrow to help in rescue operations.
“ I was in Delhi and as soon as I reached Bagdogra airport I learned about the incident, I immediately informed the administration, DC and SP in East Sikkim along with the Health Secretary and Medical Superintendent and Home Secretary were also alerted.”
CM PS Tamang further stressed that the rescue work was carried out by the state and SDRF.
“ Several distressed family members of tourists are also contacting the Sikkim government. We have also set up a helpline. We will come to know how many tourists were present at the time the avalanche occurred, how many died, and how many are hospitalized by tomorrow” he added.
