Sikkim based startup Himalayan O2 selected to receive grant of 25 lakhs

AIC-SMUTBI’s cohort of Startup Acceleration Program of North East (SAPNE 1.0) and the Himalayan Investors’ Meet Demo day held on October 31, 2021 saw some successful outcomes.

The latest addition to the success story is the selection of 2 startups Himalayan O2 and Aaharan Edu Smart Pvt Ltd from the startup portfolio of AIC-SMUTBI for Rs 25 Lakhs each as grant from the Numaligarh Refineries Ltd (NRL iDEATION). The grant will help the startup to enhance their strategic business plans to increase the market reach and also improve their customer acquisition.

Himalayan O2 is a Sikkim based startup which produces portable Himalayan oxygen canister. Mandira Chettri, Nitin Rai Sonam Gyaltsen Tenzing and Sonam Gelek Bhutia are the co founders of the startup.

Speaking with Sikkim Chronicle, Mandira Chettri one of the director of Himalayan O2 expressed her joy on being selected. She said, “Our business is a capital intensive business, and ours is a startup thus most of the spending is on branding, marketing and procuring and we will invest this grant on these elements”

“Dr Tej has been really working hard for all the startups, all this has been possible because of him as he was the one who introduced us to NRL and made a road map about how to grow as a startup” added her statement

aAHARAN is a Tripura based startup and Amit Ghosh is the Founder of the venture.

Speaking on the selection aAHARAN founder Amit Ghosh said “We are very thankful to NRL for having a mutual belief in the vision of aAHARAN and investing such a generous amount in our start-up. We also want to convey our warmest regards to AIC-AMUTBI for helping us connect with NRL. This investment will help us fullfill our mission of providing quality education to every student in our state. We have plans to expand into the other northeastern states in the near future and having such an investment at this point of time will certainly come in handy”.
