Pakyong, July 31 : As part of ongoing efforts to promote rural development and community welfare, MLA of Gnathang-Machong Constituency and Advisor to the Social Welfare Department, Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Divyangjan Welfare Department, Pamin Lepcha, inaugurated several newly completed development projects at Linkey Parakha GPU and Riwa Machong GPU today.
During the programme, she also formally inaugurated and handed over two newly constructed pucca houses built under the Sikkim Garib Aawas Yojana to beneficiaries at Linkey and Machong.
The Sikkim Garib Aawas Yojana is an initiative of the State Government aimed at facilitating housing for economically disadvantaged households and improving their quality of life by providing basic housing amenities
She also inaugurated a house constructed through Shramdaan at Rodhi ward for a family that could not be covered under the prescribed eligibility criteria.
The house is built through the collective voluntary efforts and contributions of villagers, local youth, MLA Gnathang-Machong cum Advisor, and Officer on Special Duty to the MLA, demonstrating community participation and cooperation.
Further, Zenfit Arena (Open Gym) at Rodhi, established under the Holistic Rural Development Programme (HRDP) SIMANA Sikkim, implemented by Citizens Foundation and funded by the HDFC Bank Parivartan CSR Initiative, was also inaugurated to promote physical fitness and encourage a healthy lifestyle among the community. The facility was subsequently handed over to the Village Development Committee members for its maintenance and upkeep.
Addressing the gathering, MLA cum Advisor, Pamin Lepcha described the open gym as a meaningful initiative for the welfare of the community. She called upon the public to work together in maintaining the facility, emphasising that it is a public asset and a shared responsibility.
She urged everyone to utilise it for promoting physical fitness, ensure its proper upkeep, and preserve it for the benefit of all.
The programme was attended by Panchayat members of Linkey Parakha GPU and Riwa Machong GPU; Officer on Special Duty to MLA, Gnathang-Machong, MB Gurung; Block Development Officer, Parakha, Kewal Sharma; Project Manager, Citizens Foundation, Sangita Dahal and local residents.
