Tragic Electrocution incident at Jorethang, claims life of 18-year-old

On April 29th, 2023, a tragic incident occurred at the Jorethang Playground in the Namchi district of Sikkim, resulting in the death of 18-year-old volunteer Sukraj Rai and the injury of another volunteer, 27-year-old Kumar Mukhia. A call book intimation was received from the MO/IC CHC Jorethang at approximately 7:55 pm, reporting the incident as a case of electrocution, informs the police report

According to the preliminary enquiry conducted, Rai and Mukhia were volunteers at a program being conducted by the Heavenly Path organization. They were electrocuted while using a water pump. Rai was brought dead to the CHC Jorethang, while Mukhia sustained injuries.
A criminal case, FIR No. 16/2023, has been registered under section 304’A’/34 of IPC 1860 at the Jorethang police station in connection with the incident.
