Gangtok, June 7 (IPR): The Gangtok Chapter of Sikkim Utsav, organised by the Commerce and Industries Department under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), concluded today at MG Marg, Gangtok, following three days of exhibitions, cultural programmes, and public engagement.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from residents, tourists, entrepreneurs, artisans, self-help groups, and representatives of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), making MG Marg a vibrant platform for showcasing Sikkim’s entrepreneurial potential and cultural heritage.

Secretary, Commerce and Industries Department, Ms Karma D Youtso, in her brief address, expressed her gratitude to all the stakeholders for their contribution in executing the three-day festival successfully. She also highlighted the handholding initiatives undertaken by the Department in ensuring that local entrepreneurs receive a platform to scale their businesses to national and international levels.

Throughout the three-day programme, local entrepreneurs, artisans, and MSMEs showcased a diverse range of products, services, handicrafts, handloom products, traditional artefacts, artworks, and innovations, providing visitors with an opportunity to explore the State’s growing entrepreneurial landscape. The exhibition served as a platform for promoting local enterprises, facilitating market exposure, and creating awareness about products developed and manufactured within the State.

The concluding day featured a series of cultural performances by artists representing various communities of Sikkim. Traditional folk dances, musical presentations, and cultural displays highlighted the rich heritage and cultural diversity of the State, drawing appreciation from residents and tourists alike.

A cultural fashion show showcasing the traditional attire, ornaments, customs, and cultural traditions of Sikkim’s various communities was among the major attractions of the event. Participants presented traditional costumes representing different ethnic communities of the State, offering visitors an insight into Sikkim’s diverse cultural heritage and traditions passed down through generations.

The event attracted a significant number of visitors to MG Marg, with tourists actively engaging with exhibitors, cultural performers, and local entrepreneurs. Visitors explored the exhibition stalls, interacted with artisans and entrepreneurs, appreciated the handicrafts and locally made products on display, and enjoyed the cultural performances and fashion showcase.

The programme was attended by the Secretary, Commerce and Industries Department, Ms Karma D Youtso, along with the Director, MSME, Commerce and Industries Department, Mr M Ravi Kumar, Director, DHH, Mr Tshering Topgay Bhutia, OSD, Commerce and Industries Department, Mr Dipen Subba, and Joint Secretary, Commerce and Industries Department, Ms Champa Sharma. Invited guests, local entrepreneurs, and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.

The successful conclusion of the Gangtok Chapter of Sikkim Utsav marked another step towards promoting entrepreneurship, supporting local enterprises, and celebrating the State’s rich cultural heritage.
