Sikkim State Government along with Rajya Saink Board, Sikkim pays tribute to Late General Bipin Rawat and 13 others who died in a plane crash on December 8 at Tamil Nadu.
State Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang along with his Cabinet Ministers, Army Veterans and local public paid their tribute at MG Marg Gangtok today.
As a part of Sikkimeese Tradition lightning of Butter lamps along with khadak was offered.

DN Bhutia also Secretary Rajya Sainak Board, Sikkim mentioned that, ” Late General Bipin Rawat has a special relationship Sikkim as he was amongst the one of the founding army personnel of Sikkim scouts as through his encouragement and guidance Sikkim scouts as an seperate scout battalion was established in the year 2013-14
Col. Bhutia marking the December 8 Incedent to one of the major it setback for Indian army stated that, “The helicopter crash which happened was an unfortunate Incedent for India as we lost one of the senior most army personnel along with 13 others”
General Bipin Rawat was the first Chief of Defence Staff of India.
