Pakyong, July 31 : As per the direction of the District Collector, Pakyong, Pari Bishnoi, IAS, a joint inspection was conducted today by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Pakyong, N K Bhandari, to assess monsoon induced damage at road stretches on the Pakyong–Rorathang and Rangpo–Rorathang roads.

The inspection team included RO/AD Pakyong, Kiran Chettri and DPO Pakyong, TR Chettri.

The inspection commenced at the sinking road stretch at Toribari on the Pakyong–Rorathang road, where the team assessed the extent of damage caused by the ongoing monsoon.

The team subsequently visited Kitgolai, where discussions were held with representatives of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) regarding restoration and maintenance of the affected road stretch. During the inspection, NHIDCL was instructed to undertake immediate maintenance measures, including the laying of aggregates, to ensure safe and uninterrupted vehicular movement.

The inspection further covered the sinking road stretches before and after Zuventus Healthcare Ltd. at 3rd Mile, Bhasmey, Rangpo. The team held discussions with Commander, GREF, Sunil Kumar, and officials of the GREF regarding measures to enhance commuter safety. The discussions also focused on road realignment, road widening and filling works to restore and strengthen the affected stretch.

The team concluded the inspection at Chamarey bir along the Rangpo–Rorathang road, where large boulders pose a potential risk to commuters. Discussions were held with GREF officials regarding the expeditious clearance of the affected stretch and the adoption of appropriate measures to ensure the safety of road users.
