Hamro Party Sikkim today demanded CBI investigation over SKM party’s allegations that HSP working president Bhaichung Bhutia was circulating fake documents signed by party president P.S. Golay.
Addressing a press conference here, HSP spokesperson Biraj Adhikari said that HSP will write to Sikkim Election Commission, demanding CBI enquiry. “We have not taken this threat lightly. We have prepared a letter demanding CBI enquiry under section 419, 465, 468 and 469 of IPC, 1860, section 66D of IT Act, 2000 in the alleged “Principal Decision” document of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha dated April 8, 2019 and resolution dated April 5, 2019,” said Adhikari.
The HSP spokesperson said a CBI inquiry will prove if the document in contention is fake or original.
“On August 13, when Bhaichung Bhutia, the working president of Hamro Sikkim Party, reminded Sikkim Krantikari Morcha of the promises made in the letter, the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha started playing victim card saying the said document is fake,” said Adhikari.
Furthermore, Adhikari stated that the document was floated by SKM party itself to attract votes from Chettri-Bahun community before election. “The document with the letterhead of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha was floated on social media on April 8, 2019, 3 days before the assembly elections. From the content of this document, it is clear that the document was released to attract Chettri-Bahun votes in Favour of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha,” he said.
Reiterating that the document is not fake, he said, “Interestingly, when the campaign was over and hours before the voting, at 6:49 pm on April 10, 2019, an SKM-affiliated page ‘SKM Darpan’ claimed that the said document is fake. The same was shared by the page of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha at 7:59 pm. By this time, the document was already viral and Sikkim Krantikari Morcha had already taken advantage of appeasing the Chettri-Bahun votes.”
He added: “If the document was released by the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha themselves to attract Chettri-Bahun voters on the fake pretence then the Election Commission should cancel the election of all the SKM MLAs and P.S. Golay and all other responsible for this should be tried for forgery and misguiding people under section 419, 465, 468 and 469 of the Indian Penal Code along with Section 66D of the Information Technology Act, 2000 other relevant sections.”
