Panagarh, 08 November 2021: The Indian Army organised a cycling expedition from Chungthang (Sikkim) to Panagarh (West Bengal) as part of celebrations to commemorate Swarnim Vijay Varsh.
The team comprising 12 cyclists was flagged off on 08 November 2021. The cyclists will cover a distance of 700 km over a span of eight days via Siliguri, Kishanganj, Malda, Nabagram and finally culminating at Panagarh on 15 November 2021.
During their journey, the team will be interacting with veterans, war widows and also motivate the local youth to adopt Armed Forces as a career option while at the same time spreading a message of Environment Preservation.
The expedition was launched to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of ‘Indo-Pak War of 1971’ and to pay tributes to the valour and courage of soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during the war leading to a landslide victory of Indian Armed Forces and creation of a new nation, Bangladesh.
