Mangan, August 13: Minister, Social Welfare Department cum Area MLA of 31-Lachen Mangan Constituency, Samdup Lepcha,attended the programme as the Chief Guest at Rel,Toong-Naga GPU.The programme was attended by Social Welfare Chairman Nim Tshering Lepcha, Rabin Gurung, AD (NBM),Agriculture Joint Director D.T. Kazi, Tashi Bhutia,Deputy Director (NBM), Horticulture Deputy Director M.T. Lepcha, Toong-Naga GPU Zilla,Panchayat President,Panchayat members, the general public, and other important dignitaries.
The programme focused on the importance of bamboo plantation, especially in areas affected by landslides. Bamboo has strong roots that help hold the soil together and reduce soil erosion.Planting bamboo can therefore help protect vulnerable land and reduce the impact of soil erosion.
Bamboo plantation is also an important step towards protecting our environment. Bamboo grows quickly and helps maintain greenery. It can provide long term benefits to local communities and support a healthier and more sustainable environment.
During the programme, the importance of planting, protecting, and caring for bamboo was also discussed. People were encouraged to make better use of available land by planting bamboo in suitable areas, especially where soil erosion and landslides are a concern.
Minister Samdup Lepcha also distributed bamboo saplings and pipes to the farmers as part of the programme. He encouraged and motivated the farmers to take up bamboo plantation and make proper use of the available resources. He also highlighted the importance of working together to protect the land and environment.
The active participation of local representatives, farmers, and the general public made the programme meaningful. Everyone was encouraged to work together to promote bamboo plantation, protect nature, strengthen our land, and create a safer, greener, and better environment for future generations.
