Namchi, 23rd June(IPR): As per the State Government’s directive to set up Covid Care Centres so as to provide extensive medical care to COVID-19 patients and other Covid related management, the South District Administration has converted 3 educational institutions into Covid Care Centres (CCC). These Centres can accommodate up to 250 covid positive patients ranging from mild to severe symptoms. The three Covid Care Centre in South District are namely-1. Hostel of Namchi Girls Senior Secondary School. 2. Namchi Government College (Kamrang) 3. Chisopani Centre for Computers and Communication Technology (CCCT).Regarding, Namchi Girls Senior Secondary School (NGSSS) this centre started from 10th May 2021 and has been set up at the Girls Hostel of the School. Since then, this covid care centre caters treatment to covid patients ranging from mild to severe symptoms. This centre also provides the patients with daily meals, medicines, PPE kits and other basic amenities for which minimal charges are levied sometimes some items are also given free of charge. In addition, the centre has been equipped with Oxygen Supply and other medical equipment under the supervision of a medical team consisting of Doctors and Nursing officers. It is supported by 5 IRB personnel and 2 Janitors of the School. Currently, a total of 11 covid patients are undergoing their treatment at this centre and the total bed capacity to accommodate is 60 patients. Similarly, Namchi Government College Covid Care Centre provides institutional isolation to patients limiting to asymptomatic, mild patients. The patients admitted to this Centre are usually shifted from their residence who do not have space for self isolation or home quarantine in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) mandated by the Health Department. Health of covid positive patients are observed daily with the help of a paramedical team. If in any case of severity, the patient will be referred to a Covid designated hospital. At present, a total of 29 patients are getting treated in this centre and the centre accommodates up to 40 patients. The third Covid Care Centre which is Chisopani Centre for Computers and Communication Technology (CCCT) provides treatment to symptomatic covid patients living in its proximity areas such as Jorethang, Karfectar and Nandugoan. The centre has been upgraded and holds the capacity to accommodate upto 150 patients. In addition, the centre has four blocks in which two blocks are reserved for female patients while the other for male patients. Currently, 16 covid patients are getting treatment in the facility. The management is composed of a medical team alongwith 10 IRB personnel and 2 Janitors at the centre. Additionally, the South District Administration has also identified Indian Himalayan Centre for Adventure and Eco- Tourism Institute (Chemchey) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (Ravangla) as two additional Covid Care Centres which shall soon be functional.Report By,IPR South
