Gangtok, June 12 : An inspection team from officials of various line departments led by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) (HQ) Gangtok, Mahendra Chettri, was conducted inspection at Burtuk area in Gangtok, today.
The objective of the inspection was to check adherence of the commercial establishments towards labour laws, food safety and hygiene, timely updation of documents and clean sanitation facilities to the customers.
During the inspection, the team assessed hygiene, waste management and adherence to food safety regulations. The team offered valuable suggestions to further improve hygiene and ensure systematic maintenance of the surroundings.
The inspection ended with necessary directions issued to all concerned departments to take appropriate action whenever required, with emphasis on compliance and improvement in maintaining public health and safety standards.
The inspection team comprised of officials from the Urban Development Department (UDD), Labour Department, Gangtok Municipal Corporation (GMC), Sanitation Control, Commercial Tax, Legal Metrology, Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Food Safety and Standards Cell, Excise Department, Health Department and Police personnel.
