Research Conclave 1.2 Successfully Organized at SIST Under the visionary leadership and constant encouragement of the Principal-cum-Director, Prof. (Dr.) B. B. Pradhan, Sikkim Institute of Science and Technology (SIST), Chisopani, successfully organized Research Conclave 1.2 on 10 June 2026.
Organized by the Research and Development (R&D) Cell, SIST, the conclave served as a vibrant platform for final-year students to present their Major Project works through poster presentations. The event showcased the students’ research aptitude, innovation, technical expertise, creativity, and problem-solving abilities developed throughout their academic journey.
The conclave was graced by distinguished external evaluators from premier institutions.
The expert panel included Dr. Sangram Ray, Dr. Ankit Bhardwaj, and Dr. Rajiv Kumar from NIT Sikkim, along with Dr. Mou Dasgupta from NIT Raipur. Their insightful observations, constructive feedback, and valuable recommendations greatly enriched the academic experience of the participating students and motivated them to pursue quality research and innovation.
The successful organization of the conclave was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the R&D Cell team comprising Dr. Parita Basnet (Faculty Associate, R&D Cell), Dr. Karma Hissey Lepcha (Academic In-Charge), Dr. Prerna Sharma (Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering), and Dr. C. P. Khatiwada (Assistant Professor, Department of Physics).
Research Conclave 1.2 provided an excellent forum for students to communicate their research findings, exchange ideas, demonstrate innovative solutions, and receive expert evaluation from renowned academicians.

The event reflects SIST’s continued commitment to fostering a culture of research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and academic excellence among its students and faculty members.
The conclave is a pioneering initiative in the field of technical education in Sikkim.
To the best of the institute’s knowledge, this is the first event of its kind in the history of technical education in the state, where engineering and science students were provided with a dedicated platform to present and defend their research work through poster presentations before eminent experts from premier national institutions.
The initiative marks a significant milestone in promoting a research-oriented academic culture and encouraging students to engage in scientific inquiry, innovation, and technology-driven solutions for societal development.
