Sikkim to expect rainfall and snowfall due to anticipated approaching of a Western disturbance over Sikkim and adjoining area and moisture incursion from Bay of Bengal during 11 January and January 12 stated the Special Weather Bulletin Gangtok of today by India Meteorological Department (IMD)
The weather forecast for January 11 shows light to moderate rainfall/snowfall at many places over North Sikkim, at a few places over East and West Sikkim and light to moderate rainfall at isolated places over South Sikkim.
Likewise, the forecast for January 12 shows light to moderate rainfall/ snowfall at most places over East Sikkim, at many places over North and West Sikkim and light to moderate rainfall at many places over South Sikkim.
In addition, as per the weather bulletin of today the weather of January 12 shows Hailstorm/ Thunderstorm at a few places over East and West Sikkim, and at isolated places over North and South Sikkim.
There is expected damage to horticulture and vulnerable structures, possible blockage in road due to snowfall, reduction in visibility due to valley fog and possibilities of disruption in Aviation services due to reduction in visibility.
