President Droupadi Murmu left for Namchi today from the Army Helipad in Libing after a one-night stay at the state capital, Gangtok.
The President was seen off at Libing Helipad by Governor Ganga Prasad, along with Speaker Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Arun Upreti, Senior Cabinet Minister BS Panth GOC, 17th Mtn. Div., Major General Gambhir Singh.Also to mark their respect and honour for the inspiring visit of the President to Gangtok,DIGP Special Branch Pravin Gurung, Special Secretary Home Department Norzing Tsering, DC Gangtok Ragul K, SP Gangtok Tenzing Loden Lepcha and State Government Officials were present.Further, Governor Ganga Prasad along with Senior Cabinet Minister BS Panth escorted the President to Assangthang Helipad, Namchi.
Murmu arrived at Namchi helipad in Assangthang shortly after. On the flight she was accompained by Governor Ganga Prasad and Minister Tourism and Civil Aviation Department B.S. Panth. Upon her arrival, she was accorded a warm reception at Namchi Helipad by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, Minister of Women and Child Development Department Sanjit Kharel, MLAs, NMC Chairman, CS, DGP and senior officials of the State Government.
Thereafter, the president and the entourage proceeded towards Siddheswara Dham on Solophok Hill wherein she will offer her obeisance. Further, she will also interact with 30 women members of various Self Help Groups (SHG) from the State.
She will be visiting exhibitions displayed by them which will consist of demonstration stalls of Raddi/Lukuni weaving, Thanka Painting, Carpet and Handloom Weaving put up by the SHGs at the prayer hall premises of the dham.
