Mangan: A Coordination meeting of all BDOs and Village Covid-19 management committees  held at DAC on July 16

As per the direction of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Sikkim, a follow-up meeting with all Block Development Officers and Village Covid Management Committees of all blocks, North District, was organized by the Additional District Collector (Development), RDD Mangan at DAC Meeting Hall, Mangan, today. The meeting was chaired by District Collector (North) Shri. Tenzing .T. Kaleon.

The main agenda of the meeting was to share information about government’s decision on strict implementation of Covid appropriate behaviours at the grassroot level.

ADC (Dev), Mangan spoke in detail about the points and decisions taken during the high level meeting on July 15 at Gangtok. He briefed the gathering about the significance of the role of Block Development Officers, as they are the medium to generate awareness among the people in the village as well as disseminate information from the government to the rural masses. He also spoke about the essential duties of BDOs in documentation, counselling and their responsibility to ensure that COVID-19 guidelines issued by the government are followed strictly. 

District Collector (North) conveyed the guidelines of the Government and informed about the role of Village Covid Management Committees. He urged them to work seriously and diligently with the aim to make North District a ‘Zero Covid Zone.’ He reiterated the five mantras – ‘Trace, Track, Testing, Vaccination and practising Covid appropriate behaviours’, requesting all to abide by them. He also directed to conduct IEC programmes in all sections of the society.

Suggestions from Hon’ble Zilla/ Gram Panchayat, Block Officials and VCMC committees were also noted. The District Collector appreciated the feedback and suggestions and assured his support and guidance. 

Block Development Officers from Block Administrative Centre Mangan, Passingdang (Dzongu) and Kabi along with the subordinate staffs attended the meeting. It also had the attendance of the Hon’ble Zilla Panchayat Members, Gram Panchayats, Village Covid Management Committees of all Gram Panchayat Units.
