The Women and Child Development Department (W&CDD) and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) in Pakyong district organized a “District-Level Poshan Pakhwada cum signature campaign,” which was inaugurated today at the premises of the District Administration Centre (DAC), Pakyong.
The event was graced by the presence of the District Collector Pakyong Tashi Chophel, along with SP Pakyong Karma Gyamtso, SDM (HQ) Thendup Lepcha, and SDM Pakyong Tshering Norgyal Theengh.
The purpose of the campaign is to raise awareness about the importance of nutrition and promote the use of locally-grown nutritious food. During the event, DC Pakyong illustrated a pledge taken by the participants to promote and practice good nutrition habits in their daily lives. The pledge highlighted the need to ensure that every child and mother receives adequate nutrition and the importance of promoting a balanced and nutritious diet for all.
The ICDS team demonstrated a variety of millet recipes during the event. Millets are a rich source of essential nutrients and are an important part of a balanced diet. The demonstration aimed to encourage the use of millets in everyday cooking and promote the benefits of consuming these nutrient-rich grains.
The theme for the 5th Poshan Pakhwada is “Nutrition for All: Together Towards a Healthy India.” The focus of Poshan Pakhwada will be to popularize ‘Shree Anna’- the mother of all grains, as a valuable asset to address malnutrition. Poshan Pakhwada, which started from 20th March to 3rd April 2023, focuses on the promotion and popularization of Shree Anna, the celebration of Swasth Balak Spardha, and the popularizing of Saksham Anganwadi.
The Ministry of Women and Child Development aims to raise awareness about the importance of nutrition and promote healthy eating habits through Jan Andolan and Jan Bhagidari during Poshan Pakhwada.
