State’s First Block Public Health Unit, BPHU of Health and Wellness Centre-Public Health Centre, Dentam under the Health and Family Welfare Department Government of Sikkim constructed under Fifteenth Finance Commission, Health Grants, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India was inaugurated on March 12.

Member of Parliament Lok Sabha Indra Hang Subba in his address at the Training Hall of HWC-PHC Dentam floored his congratulatory connotations to all for the availed facility. He sensitised on the ease that general masses of the periphery would be able to exercise in mandatory needed tests at the PHC itself. In this regard also appreciated concern for their contributions and praised them for rendering tireless efforts towards the cause of fellow citizens’ Health on humanitarian grounds.
Further, MP Subba termed that a commendable milestone had been achieved with the first of its kind health centric facility in the state, which he firmly believed to be a need of the hour, in retrospect of Covid-19. He urged for collective efforts from all sections of society to assist the State Government in strengthening the PHCs in the state and showed his keen desire to witness enhancements in ease orientated facilities in every PHC in the state, respectively.
Speaking on the marketing potential of Dentam, Subba informed about the vision of the Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Tamang on connecting Nepal via Chewa Bhanjyang for a further extension in marketing venture for the producers. On a similar note, MP Shri Subba even spoke in brief on Health and Education sectors in a proportional paradigm and motivated to stress both sectors for guaranteed success.
The area in charge Maneyboung Dentam Purna Hang Limboo in his brief address applauded the HCM of Sikkim for his visionary interventions in the Health Sector. He even informed on the advancement in official work in tandem with upgrading PHC Dentam to CHC and respect urged for a collective approach from all too.
Earlier, Director cum SNO/ NQAP Dr Baroon Subba poured a brief introduction on National Quality Assurance Programme and Welcome Address, Dr Bikash Pradhan floored vote of Thanks, Dr Raj Prabha Moktan, PDHS Cum MD/ NHM highlighted on BPHU and congratulated Dentam PHC for the accolades it begged. A brief report presentation on the journey of NQAS National Certification was floored by MOIC Dr Eden Bhutia. Shri Dawa Norbu Sherpa from Jan Aarogya Samiti also briefly addressed and shared experiences.
During the progression, MP Indra Hang Subba presented a certificate begged by Dentam PHC after independent assessment and complacence check with NQAS for Public Health Facilities in services of the hospital Outpatientsnts, Laboratory, Labour Room, IPD, National Health Program and General Administration awarded by Central Quality Supervisory Committee, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
It may be mentioned here that such a facility is the first of its kind in the entire state that facilitates designated rooms with specific Laboratory for Routine Investigations like Blood Grouping, Haemoglobin Estimation, ESR/ DLC/ TLC/ VDRL, PS for MP wellness, Urine R/M, Stool and Exam Sputum for AFB, Unrine HCG, HIV, HBSAG, LFT, Uric Acid, KFT, RBS, cholesterol.
