Gangtok, September 3: A One day Digital India State Awareness Workshop was organised by Department of Information Technology, Government of Sikkim in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India at a local hotel, today.
The workshop was aimed at creating awareness and facilitating consultation among various Government departments in Sikkim on key Digital India initiatives, including DigiLocker and EntityLocker, the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023, data classification, citizen data protection, and the adoption and implementation of the State Data Policy, 2025.
The programme had the presence of Secretary, IT, Bimal Rai, as the Chief Guest.
Officials from NeGD conducted sessions providing an overview of the DPDP Act, 2023, DigiLocker, EntityLocker and other related Digital India initiatives. The workshop also featured a session on data classification, DPDP Act compliance and citizen data protection.

A session on the State Data Policy, 2025, focusing on its adoption and implementation by State Government departments was also conducted.
The session on EntityLocker and DigiLocker, was presented by Additional Director, NeGD Ajay Kumar. While, Soumavo, NeGD, addressed the DPDP Act, data classification, compliance and citizen data protection and Nijananda Rath, Senior Consultant, Department of Information Technology, detailed on the State Data Policy, 2025.
Earlier, the welcome address was presented by Secretary, IT, Bimal Rai and the Keynote Address was highlighted by Director, IT, Sonam Tashi Wangdi.
The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Joint Director, Department of Information Technology, Government of Sikkim, Debasis Shilal.
