Assistant Engineer booked for abetment to suicide and extortion : Roselene Subba case

Gangtok police has arrested 40-year-old Assistant Engineer (AE) Sunil Rai working in Horticulture Department in connection to the death of a Junior Engineer, Roselene Subba. 
Subba who hails from Namchi in South Sikkim was found hanging in a government quarter at Forest Colony in Gangtok on June 3. 
The family members of Subba has alleged that the Assistant Engineer mentally harassed the deceased which led to her committing suicide. 
Earlier, a case was registered under 174crpc (unnatural) death, and later it was converted to criminal sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 383 (extortion). 
Rai had applied for the anticipatory bail in the lower court, which was rejected. The rejection was followed by an arrest. 
Last week a friend of deceased also travelled from Delhi to register a statement in the court. 
” She was a good friend of Roselene and had shared about the mental harassment the engineer was giving to her. We have full faith in police and judiciary.  We hope the justice would be delivered to Roselene” said the family members. 
“Rai is presently in the Police custody and the investigation is on progress” said the police sources.
