50-year-old male teacher murdered by two female assailants; accused arrested by Gyalshing Police

A 50-year-old male teacher was reported to be found dead in a case of a blind murder at Sardong, West Sikkim, the deceased was reported to be a teacher from Sardong SS.

According to initial reports from the police, the man sustained multiple head injuries that led to his death. Two accused were promptly arrested by the police in the ongoing investigation.


Police arrested two women on charges of murdering a teacher at Sardong Government Secondary School in Gyalshing District. The deceased has been identified as Gajurman Gurung, who was aged 50.

The incident was reported at around 8 PM on Wednesday, after which the police arrested two women named Kalpana Gurung and Bina Rai on the charge of murder. The deceased Gurung has been identified to be from Upper Lingchom, and was reported to be found dead at Upper Lungjik, 2 km from his house.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the teacher died after sustaining serious head injuries during a fight between the deceased teacher and the accused. The body of the deceased has been taken to Gangtok Hospital for post-mortem. Sources said that the police investigated the incident from different angles and after interrogating the accused women, solved the case as a murder committed by the accused.

The case was registered under c/w GPS case FIR No-28, dated-23.6.22, and the arrested accused have been booked under 302. The two arrested females were aged about 20 & 30 years, both residents of Sardong, Gyalshing district.

Sources have said that the incident occurred when the trio, (the deceased and two accused) were returning home in an inebriated state where a brawl started. The above arrested ladies thereafter assaulted the deceased with stones over his head and left for home. The heavily bleeding deceased succumbed to his injuries at the soot itself.

The arrested females will be produced tomorrow before the Magistrate having jurisdiction.

The investigating Officer of the case was SHO Gyalshing, PI, Silash Tamang.
