Tourism Minister BS Panth tested Covid positive: 70 new positive cases in state

Minister for Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Government of Sikkim Bedu Singh Panth tested positive for Covid-19. He underwent for covid test Sunday morning after he developed various symptoms.

Minister Panth in his official Facebook page confirmed about the news and further said that, “My dear friends, I am to inform you that I have been tested positive. I will be in complete isolation as per the covid protocol. Inconvenience caused is regretted.”

“I will attend to urgent work through social media. I am fine and taking medicine” added the statement

Sikkim reported 70 new positive cases taking the state’s cumulative count to 32719 cases, currently active cases tally stands at 218.

A total of 04 COVID-19 patients recovered today taking the state’s cumulative tally of recovered cases to 31740. Likewise, The recovery rate to date stands at 98.1% and the Positivity rate at 12.2%. No death was reported, and the death toll stands at 409.

The East District recorded 51 new cases, the West District recorded 13, the South District recorded 06 and the north district recorded no new cases.

A total of 576 samples were tested, 206 samples through Rapid Antigen Test RAT, out of which 25 tested Covid-19 positive. 01 samples through TRUNAT/ CBNAAT out of which no positive case was reported and 369 tests through RT-PCR out of which 45 tested positive.
