NHPC, Teesta-V Power Station organize State Level Painting Competition on Energy Conservation.

NHPC, Teesta-V Power Station organized a State Level Painting Competition on Energy Conservation on 14th November, 2022 at Balutar, Gangtok District for selected students of School Level Painting Competition for 05th, 06th and 07th standard under Group A and 8th, 9th and 10th standard under Group B.

This competition was conducted as a part of “National Awareness Campaign on Energy Conservation-2022” launched by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, GoI.
G. P. Upadhyaya, IAS, Cabinet Secretary, Govt. of Sikkim was the Chief Guest for the Award Function. Addressing the students, Upadhyaya wished the students on the occasion of National Childrens Day. He said that the disadvantages of wastage of Energy, Food and Water must be inculcated and imprinted in the minds of students right from the childhood.

He was delighted to see the creative paintings drawn by the students on Energy Conservation, the concept was close to his heart. He advised the students to be responsible and adaptive to changing environment. He also appreciated NHPC endeavors for conducting the competition annually.

Jitendra Kumar, General Manager (E), Teesta-V PS highlighted the need to conserve Energy in the context of increasing Green House Gases (GHG) in the Environment. Energy Conservation is the only way which helps in replacing the non-renewable resources of energy with the renewable energy.

Abhishek Kumar, Sr. Manager (HR) & Nodal Officer for Painting Competition said that such types of initiatives will inspire the children towards Energy Conservation. At the end, Prizes were distributed to all winners of State Level Painting Competition. First ₹50,000/-, Second ₹ 30,000/-and Third Prize ₹ 20,000/-along with 10 Consolation prizes ₹ 7,500/- each in each Group A & B. The Top-3 Students i.e. First, Second and Third Prize winners in each Group A & B of State Level Painting Competition will participate in National Level Painting Competition which will be held at New Delhi on 11th December, 2022. Senior Officers of NHPC, Education & Power Department of Govt of Sikkim were also present on the occasion.
