Skill Development Deptt, GOS conduct workshop on NSQF and various schemes’ programmes

Namchi, 23 February, 2022: Skill Institute of Capacity Building under Skill Development Department, Government of Sikkim, conducted a workshop on NSQF (National Skill Qualification Framework) and schemes’ programmes under Skill Development with the students and trainees of four schools and training institutions of Namchi District in Namchi today.

Around sixty students and trainees from, Namchi Senior Secondary School, Namchi Girls Senior Secondary School, Industrial Training Institute Namchi and SICB Karfectar, took participation in this one day workshop conducted by the Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, under Skills Acquisition and Knowledge for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP).

The resource person in today’s workshop was KVS Narayanan from RDSDE Kolkata, who layed on the importance and objectives of NSQF to the participants. He explained that NSQF chooses a person for its certification programs with four aspects viz, knowledge, skill, practical experience, and responsibility. The certification helps a person to find job globally, he added.

The principal of ITI Namchi, MN Bhutia, on the other hand, said that, NSQF certification provides common ground for all the vocational training programs of the country to certify their trainees.

The representatives from SICB Karfectar, principal of ITI Namchi and representatives of SICB headquarter Gangtok, too had addressed the gathering earlier.
