Sikkim Fire department gets two new water tender trucks

Gangtok, March 7 (IPR): The Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang flagged off New Water Tender Vehicles (Fire truck) in presence of Hon’ble Minister of Building & Housing and Transport Department, Sanjit Kharel at Samman Bhawan, today.

The old model vehicles have been replaced with two new water tender vehicles. The capacity of the new tender truck is 4500 litres, roller shutter with automatic LED Light Systems and 2 nos of cabin crew.

The new water tender truck consist of following equipment for fire fighting:

Delivery Hose- 100fts – 10nos
Light weight pump – 1no.
Rescue Equipment – 1set
Small Gear – 1set
Rescue Rope – 1set
Trussed Type Ladder – 1no

The new water tender truck has also come up with Anti- lock Braking System( ABS) Fitted, speed governors, oxygen cylinder with oxygen mask, A/C cabin for firefighters and complete fire suit with oxygen cylinder.

Director of the Fire Department, Manoj Tiwari, IPS informed that, ‘Two more fire stations will be established in Soreng District and Phodong in North Sikkim. Soreng fire station is under-construction which will be ready soon,
The other officials present were Deputy Chief Fire Officer- I, Indra Kumar Rai, Deputy Chief Fire Officer-II, Zamyang Tashi Bhutia, Deputy Chief Fire Officer-III, Mathew Rai, Fire Station Officer Mangan, B.B Subba, Sub- Fire Officer, Sonam Palzor Bhutia, Sub- Fire Officer Jorethang, Joel Rai, Sub- Fire Officer Namchi, Bishal Rai, Sub-Fire Officer,S.I Gangtok, Sonam Bhutia, Sub-Fire Officer Gangtok, S.S Subba and other officials of Fire Department.
