Rabong: In reaction to the violent football brawl breaking out between Tibetan Special Frontier Force and the Indian Reserve Batallion, Sikkim Police appeals to the Sikkimese people to ‘not see the incident from a communal viewpoint’.

Do not see the Rabong brawl from a communal angle- Police appeal

The Sikkim Police during the press conference held on Sunday by Sikkim Police, DIG and Spokesperson Tashi Wangyal Bhutia appealed, “I want to appeal, this is a stray incident, it’s a law and order incident that happened during the football game, there is passion, there are fights that break out. To make this communal, to take this as community wise, (is ill advised) and do not take the incident as such. I want to appeal this(to all the Sikkimese pubic).

“Everyone is celebrating (Independence Day), everyone has enthusiasm towards it. Our state wants to take it in that sense. Urge people to take it as such. There may be a few incidents being repeated. Sikkim police is active on this”, he added.

Sikkim Police claimed to have taken the aid of the Special Frontier Force to arrest five individuals, they stated, “We have taken the support of Special Frontier Force Officers to arrest five individuals. Some may want to take it in another angle, I want to say that it is wrong. I want to appeal that let this matter end here. i want to appeal that this is a simple law and order issue, do not see this as anything beyond it. I want to appeal”.

Narrating the brawl that occured during Saturday’s football game, Sikkim Police spokesperson shared, “Yesterday in Rabongla ground during the independence Day football tournament during the game between Special Frontier Force supporters and Sikkim Police’s IRBn Jawans a clash had broken out. An attack had occurred upon on duty personnel, three were injured, two were referred and one is being treated at Rabongla hospital. The investigation has been initiated and the police had registered a case. Those injured are out of danger, but were seriously injured”.

Sikkim Police with the narrative of Sikkim being peaceful state shared, “We will do the lawful investigation, any repetition from here on we will take it case by case. I urge everyone to see this from a very calm and level headed perspective, Sikkim is very peaceful state and I urge everyone to see if from that sense. We want make this appeal”.
