Congress leader and advocate Kaustav Bagchi approaches Calcutta High Court seeking intervention to nullify Panchayat Polls amidst alleged violence

In a mail written to T.S. Sivagnanam, Chief Justice High Court, he writes, “As a citizen of the State of West Bengal, I seek an immediate judicial intervention with regard to the present panchayat poll violence that is taking place at the behest of the ruling dispensation in connivance with the West Bengal State Election Commission and the State Administration.”

“Eversince today morning there has been an unprecedented violence, booth capture etc.”

“As per media reports there has been four deaths till now, owing to poll violence.”

“The orders passed by this Hon’ble Court have been flagrantly violated thereby turning the democratic process into a complete farse.”

“In the facts and circumstances stated herein above, i humbly beseech Your Lordship to take suo moto cognizance of the entire state of affairs and constitute a Special Bench of This Hon’ble Court and pass necessary order and/or orders, direction and/or directions as your Lordship may deem fit and proper.”
