In connection with a POCSO Act case registered earlier on August 2021 under Kaluk police station, West Sikkim, the accused named Sikandra Ali, Age about 21 years resident of Fulbari, near Indo-Bagladesh border, West Bengal, who was absconded after commission of crime has been arrested from Fulbari, West Bengal on January 30 by the West District
Police team led by DSP Bikash Tiwari, SDPO Dentam with SI Rajiv Mukhia and personnel from Kaluk Police station.
The girl child aged about 14 years old was lured by the suspect on Facebook and went missing. During investigation, she was traced to the house of accused person and brought back the next morning.
Unfortunately, despite our team moving in the middle of the night, she had already been sexually assaulted. The accused couldn’t be traced despite making several efforts.
The area where the accused lived was in a no man’s territory within Fulbari on the Indo Bangladesh border and even the Jalpaiguri Police & BSF had much trepidation entering area where the public are known to be volatile. The assistance of Jalpaiguri PS and BSF were vital in the operation.
