Sikkim to host three Ranji Trophy 2022-23 matches

Sikkim for the first time to host Ranji Trophy matches at SICA Mining Ground. A total of 3 matches of Ranji Trophy will be played here at SICA ground.

As per scheduled fixture released by SICA first match will be played between Sikkim and Manipur ( December 13-16, 2022) followed by Sikkim verses Mizoram ( December 27-30, 2022) and Sikkim verses Arunachal Pradesh (January 10-13, 2023).

Lobzang Tenzing, President Sikkim Cricket Association throught social media expressed his joy over the tournament to be played here at Sikkim, he said, ” I’m extremely delighted to announce to all the cricket lovers of Sikkim that BCCI has been gracious enough to allow SICA to host BCCI tournament matches at SICA ground Rangpo. It is another milestone crossed for the SICA family. I congratulate each and every member specially the ground staff who have been constantly monitored and guided by Shri. Ashish K Bhowmik, Chief Curator of BCCI.”

“Sikkim owes a lot to Ashish K Bhowmik for his extraordinary contribution for making SICA ground one of the best in India. This is a proud moment for all of us.” Added the statement

“To qualify to host a first class matches that too of Ranji Trophy is no mean feat for a State Association which got full membership just 4 years back. This ground has already been approved by National Cricket Academy to hold any courses or events. This year we have already hosted one NCA course (High Performance Coaches Course) and one BCCI Course (2nd North-East Aspiring Curators Orientation Program).”

Furthermore, President Tenzing extended his gratitude to BCCI, ” I would personally thank President and Secretary BCCI and all officials of BCCI for trusting us with such responsibility. I on behalf of SICA give you full assurance that the matches will be conducted to your full satisfaction.”
