A 17-year-old student was allegedly assaulted while on her way to college in Gangtok on December 1, 2023. The minor, whose identity has been withheld for privacy, was reportedly accosted by an unidentified masked individual who fondled her near the Sazong-Rumtek gate bridge
As per the Police report, the assault occurred around 1:30 p.m., and the perpetrators, two unknown persons, fled into the nearby jungle upon hearing an approaching vehicle.
Further, Sikkim Police has registered FIR no. 45/2023 under Section 354 of the IPC and Section 08 of the POCSO Act, 2012
