Sukumar Pradhan or popularly known as SK Pradhan expired this morning around 10:45 AM in a private hospital at Siliguri. Pradhan served as the member of legislative assembly for two times from Central Pendam constituency during 1985-1989 and 1989-1994. He was the then the member of the Sikkim Sangram Parishad headed by former Chief Minister Lt. Nar Bahadur Bhandari.

He later joined Sikkim Democratic Front and served as Vice President (Admin).
He is the eldest son of Nahakul Pradhan who held several cabinet positions in State Council of Sikkim – a constitutional government under the erstwhile Chogyal regime including the Executive Councillor. He has led the Sikkim State Congress for several years during Chogyal regime.

Before coming to active politics, Pradhan was working as a History teacher at Rangpo School.Pradhan is survived by his wife and four daughters
