#Tokyo Games 2020 India bags 7 medals: 01 Gold, 02 Silver, 04 Bronze

Neeraj Chopra was the lone gold medalist for India at the Tokyo games. The previous Olympic gold for India was won at Bejing Olympics 2008 by Abhinav Bhindra.  

Tokyo Olympics has been India’s most successful Olympics so far with 01 Gold, 02 Silver, and 04 Bronze medals with a total of 07 Olympic medals.

Neeraj Chopra was the lone gold medalist for India at the Tokyo games. The previous Olympic gold for India was won at Bejing Olympics 2008 by Abhinav Bhindra.

India started its account with weightlifter Mirabai Chanu. Where she took silver in the women’s 49 kg category. It was India’s second medal in weight-lifting after the 2000 Sydney Olympics. 

Followed by  PV Sindhu, bronze medal in the women’s singles event becoming the second Indian and the country’s first woman to win two Olympic medals. Lovina Borgohain with a bronze medal in boxing. Lovlina is only the third Indian boxer after Vijender Singh (2008) and Mary Kom (2012) to win an Olympic medal.

Ravi Dahiya, a silver medal for India at the Tokyo Olympics in Men’s 57 kg wrestling. Indian Men’s Hockey Team who won the bronze medal after 41 years. Bajrang Punia with a bronze medal in the 65kg category in wrestling, and  Neeraj Chopra, a gold medal in Javelin Throw.

India in terms of medal tally stood at  47th place. China became the country with the most Tokyo Olympics 2020 medals with 38 gold, 31 silver, and 18 bronze followed by the United States with 36  gold, 39  silver, and 33 bronze. While the host country Japan secured third place with 27 gold, 12 silver, and 17 bronze
