As per the daily Covid19 bulletin State IEC Officer Sonam Gyaltsen Bhutia informed that, “As per the directives of the central government, the state government will start vaccination of children who falls under between age group of 15-18 years from January 2022. They shall be given Covaxin vaccination.
It was further informed that in order to book the slots for the vaccination the same covid19 portal will be used with requirements of identification proof documents for verification. The booking of slots shall start January 1 onwards.
In the initial stage, the vaccination drive for the age group of 15-18 shall start from Ranipool Urban Primary Health Cente starting January 3 till January 8.
In addition, State IEC officer informed that modification will be done for the time and centre of the vaccination so that it would be easier for the receivers to take jabs.
Furthermore Precautionary dose shall also start from January 10, 2022 onwards “As per the directives of the ministry of health, government of India first Health care workers will be jabbed followed by frontline warriors and citizens with age of 60 years and above with comorbidities, the dose of the precautionary shall only be given to those who have completed 39 weeks rest after the second dose” informed State IEC officer
“For the 60 and above age catagory with comorbidities the medical documents will be verified at site of vaccination by the department and after the verification and approval they shall be allowed to proceed for the Precautionary dose” he added
The initiative to vaccinate 15-18 age groups comes after the prime minister Narendra Modi of December 25 made an announcement regarding the vaccination. He had stated “India will commence vaccination drive for teenagers between the ages of 15 to 18 starting from January 3, 2022.Healthcare, frontline workers and citizens above the age of 60 years with symptomatology will also be allotted the booster dose ‘precaution dose’ on a recommendation from the Doctors starting from January 10, 2022”.
