Sikkim: Federation of Consumer Association observes World Consumer Rights Day 2022 at Rinchenpong Soreng Sikkim

Federation of Consumer Association, Sikkim observed World Consumer Rights Day at Rinchenpong Bazzar, Soreng Sikkim in Association with Meghi Dara United Society (Youth Wing) under the aegis of Department of Food and Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Government of Sikkim with the theme ” Fair Digital Finance” and also organised Consumer Awareness Program in a grand manner.

The program had the presence of Durga Mani Pradhan, Principal , Sardar RB Gurung Government Senior Secondary School, Kaluk , West Sikkim as a Chief Guest.

The program was attended by members of many NGOs, representatives with students from Chakung Government Science College, Yangsum Government Senior Secondary School, Hathidunga Government Secondary School, Kaluk Senior Secondary School and the majority of concerned citizens from the region.

The program had the very informative speech by the students of Consumer Club Namthang Government Senior Secondary School, Namchi Sikkim leaded by their Nodal Teacher Srijana Kharka and musical presentation by local youths along with Quiz Competetion.

The main resource person to the program today was Dr. Bharat Basistha, Director , Department of Science & Technology , who is a expert in Consumer Rights, Arjun Rai, DCSO (West) Department of Food & Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Miss Srijana Kharka, PGT( Economics), Namthang SSS, who is also the Vice President of FCAS gave the presentation about the rights of a consumers and the ConsumerbProtection Acts.

In the mean time the “Concerned Consumer Award 2022” was awarded to Aki Doma Bhutia, Shay Lhamu Bhutia and Sonam Palden Bhutia of Rinchenpong.

The chief guest, Durga Mani Pradhan, on his address motivated the audience to take benefit of the Consumer rights and thanked the FCAS on organising the program in Rinchenpong .

Suresh K. Lama , President FCAS in his welcome speech thanked the Meghi Dara United Society (Youth Wing) on coordinating the program and FCAS motive on expanding consumer awareness in rural populate.

Ringzing Tamang , Coordinator (East) FCAS conducted the program and vote of thanks was presented by Pramesh Gurung of Meghi Dara United Society (Youth Wing).
