Reshi Check Post which comes under 19- Rhenock constituency is now all set to allow foreign tourists entering Sikkim starting March 1 ,2022, with the inauguration of its Foreigners Registration Office (FRO). Earlier only domestic tourists and visitors were allowed through the check post.

The Check Post was inaugurated by the area MLA Bishnu Kumar Khatiwada during a formal program which was also attended by Secretary, Tourism Department, District Collector of Pakyong District, SP East and numerous office bearers of the ruling front.

“This was the long pending demand of the public of my constituency which finally has been fulfilled” said MLA Bishnu Kumar Khatiwada while addressing the gathering.

“This will help to boost the tourism of our state and will prove to be beneficial of our youths of our state” he added.

The Check Post is said to come under the Historic Old Silk Route in Sikkim which lately has been developing as one the major tourist hotspots of Sikkim and the opening of the check post for the foreign tourists and visitors is expected to give a major boost to the tourism industry.

While interacting with the media local residents of Reshi expressed their happiness on the opening of the FRO in their constituency and said that the step will help provide self-employments among the unemployed youths and also give identity to their constituency.
