Ministry of Home directs States and UTs to withdrew Cases booked under Section 66A, Information Technology Act, 2000

The Ministry of Home directs the all States and UTs to withdrew Section 66A, Information Technology Act of 2000 on June 14.

The Union Ministry of Home affairs on Wednesday, July 14 directed all states and union territories to withdrew all cases registered under the repealed section of 66 A of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
Following this, the MOH also directed the police stations of Union Territories and States not to register any cases under Section 66A.

The states and UTs have also been directed to sensitise ve the law enforcement agencies for the compliance of the order issued by the Apex Coirt on March 2015.

The Supreme Court in the judgement on Match 24, 2015 in matter of Shrerya Singhal V/s Union of India, had struck down Section 66A of the Information Technology Act of 2000
