KKV, South Sikkim organize training on Natural Farming

Namchi, 2nd February, 2022: Krishi Vigyan Kendra of South Sikkim as a part of ‘Technology Week’ organized a two days training on ‘natural farming’ in KVK Namthang that takes place on February 02 and February 03. In this two days training, the participant BODs and CEOs of Farmers Producers Organizations (FPOs) of Namchi District will be given advanced training on organic farming/natural farming along with the training on the usage of various technologies for the value addition of the products.

The newsletter on Technology Week was released on the first day of the event by KVK Namthang, along with the felicitation of the news houses and others that have supported KVK Namthang in the earlier years in ways.


Felicitation was done to the awardee farmers of Chuba Weavers Off Farm Producers Cooperative Society Limited of Namchi, for receiving ‘Global Eco Artisan Award 2022 – endangered craft and revival’ in the United States of America on December 07 last year.


During the first day’s event, various existing and upcoming schemes from Agriculture Department/ATMA South Sikkim, and Horticulture Department, and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, were shared by the respective officers of the departments. The BODs and CEOs of FPOs of Namchi District could apply these schemes to their respective villages as necessary.

During the event, Zilla up-Adakshya of Namchi District, Bikash Tamang, addressed the mass, and said that the training must bring the positive results to the farming products of Namchi District.

The secretary of the Department of Agriculture, Jigmee Bhutia, IAS, of the Government of Sikkim too addressed the mass gathered in the event.

Earlier, when the programme started, different stalls of organic farming and animal rearing, bee keeping, etc, prepared by the farmers of Namchi District were visited by the officials present in the event.
