Amidst tension between Russia and Ukraine, with the brewing tensions between the two nations, United Nations and the United States since months, an invasion by the Russians is seemingly imminent. UK and US have already started asking their citizens to leave Ukraine, while US issued a warning on 14 February that Russia could start an invasion “with little or no warning” at all. More than 1,00,000 Russian troops have been positioned near the Ukraine borders while the Kremlin has denied any plans of invasion, accusing the West of hysteria, for the flurry of officials sent to Moscow and Kyiv. Earlier this week, Russian President Vladamir Putin suggested that they would continue discussions with the West.
On Monday, the United States said it is relocating its embassy in Kyiv to the western Ukrainian city of Lviv, due to the “dramatic acceleration” in the buildup of Russian forces at the country’s border.
Indian Embassy in Kyiv have also posted an advisory for its citizens, particularly students whose stay isn’t essential to leave Ukraine temporarily and also advised Indian nationals to avoid all non essential travel to or within Ukraine.
“Indian nationals in Ukraine, particularly students whose stay is not essential, may consider leaving temporarily. Indian nationals are also advised to avoid all nonessential travel to and within Ukraine,” the Embassy of India in Kyiv stated.
“Indian nationals are requested to keep the Embassy informed about the status of their presence in Ukraine to enable the Embassy to reach them where required,” the notice read, futher adding that the embassy will “continue to function normally to provide all services to Indian nationals” in the country.
