India ranks 126th in the World Happiness Report 2023, which was released on March 20th, the International Day of Happiness.
Although India has made considerable progress since last year when it was ranked 136th, it still lags behind many of its neighboring countries, positioning itself as one of the unhappiest nations in the world.
Neighboring countries Nepal ranked 78th, Bangladesh ranked 118th, Sri Lanka ranked 112th, and Pakistan positioned itself at 108th out of the 137 countries in the index.
Finland is the happiest country in the world, followed by Denmark and Iceland, while Afghanistan, ranking 137th, is the unhappiest nation in the world.
According to the report, the top ten happiest countries are Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Israel, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and New Zealand. Meanwhile, countries like Afghanistan, Lebanon, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Congo, Botswana, Malawi, Comoros, Tanzania, and Zambia are among the top ten unhappiest nations in the world.
