IMD Gangtok has issued a Yellow Alert for Sikkim, warning residents of light to moderate rain with the likelihood of one or two intense spells continuing over the next two to three hours.
The nowcast weather warning, released on June 4, 2025, specifically mentions that the districts of Gangtok, Mangan, Namchi, Pakyong, and Soreng are likely to experience these weather conditions.

IMD has advised the public to stay in safe places during any thunderstorm activity and to remain vigilant for further updates. Residents are also encouraged to use the ‘DAMINI’ app for real-time monitoring of lightning activity.
According to the latest weather data, Gangtok recorded 9.9 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, with a maximum temperature of 19.9°C and a minimum of 15.7°C. Pakyong received 3.3 mm of rain, while Gyalshing saw the highest rainfall in the state at 24.4 mm. Other locations such as Soreng and Tadong recorded 0.5 mm and 1.0 mm of rainfall, respectively.
The temperature readings across these stations indicate cool and damp conditions, typical for the onset of the monsoon season.
