Sikkim Police has arrested four individuals accused of assaulting Tashi Gyatso Bhutia at Tadong Daragaon on March 11. According to police sources, “Prem Kumar Rai, Birendra Subba, Pema Sangdup, and Pema Bhutia were arrested in connection with the case registered at Sadar PS on March 11.”
Additionally, a case has been registered against the four accused under section 324 of the Indian Penal Code. Section 324 of the IPC states that when a person is voluntarily hurt by the use of a dangerous weapon or means, the act falls under the purview of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
Tashi Gyatso Bhutia, an SDF functionary was allegedly assaulted in broad daylight by unknown individuals at Tadong on March 11 and had sustained serious injuries.
“More arrests are awaited,” said police sources.
