The vigorous rounds in the Independent Panchayati elections, a benchmark in Sikkimese history was concluded on November 12. The immediate former and the present Chief Ministers took to their official social media to send congratulations and share their thoughts.

Here are the messages:

Former Chief Minister Pawan Chamling: “On the conclusion of the Panchayat Election 2022, I congratulate each and everyone who participated. As it is the natural course of any democratic process, there are those who are elected and those who fall short of winning.
I extend my best wishes to each and every participant who took part in this democratic process! To the newly elected Panchayats and Zilla Panchayats, for the next five years, the people of Sikkim have handed over their hopes and aspirations to you. You have been given the responsibility of safeguarding the interests of the public and you have been empowered as well to take on the issues facing the people. You have been elected by the people to take on a huge responsibility on their behalf for which I wish you all the very best.
I hope that you are able to fully utilise the rights that have been bestowed upon you by the Constitution of India in the interests of Sikkim and the Sikkimese people. Heartiest congratulations to the new Panchayats and Zilla Panchayats and may you serve to create a new, happier and stronger Sikkim! May this mandate give way to a better Sikkim.”

Present Chief Minister PS Goley: “Heartiest congratulations to all the winning candidates of the recently held Panchayat elections at the Gram Panchayat, Ward level, and Territorial Constituency (Zilla) level. Similarly, my gratitude to all the candidates and the people who wholeheartedly participated in this historic independent, party-less Panchayat Election 2022, and also acknowledge the efforts of the State Election Commission and all the officials involved in this election process.
Life itself is a competition, so winning and losing is an essential part of our routine, but the most important and commendable feature is participation.I wish all the very best to everyone for a successful and generous service to the people and society.”
