GOS, ASHI and Agapi complete 4 day soap making training programme

A four day soap making Training Programme was successfully completed on 13th of August 2022, at Swadhar Greh, Lower Burtuk, Gangtok ,Sikkim. It was conducted for the beneficiaries (fourteen women members) of Swadhar Greh to generate new skills for their resettlement in the society and sustained them.

The programme was sponsored by Women and Child Development Department, Government of Sikkim in association with Agapi, a skincare product brand of Sikkim and Association for Social Health in India, Sikkim Branch. In the programme the President of ASHI, Sharda Pradhan, Hemlata Moktan, Joint Director, Women and Child Welfare Division, Social Welfare Department, Nutrition Inspector Yozna Rana WCOD of 5th Mile Lumsey, Bhima Kanta Gurung, Ex-Chairperson of State Social Welfare Board (SSWB) cum Vice president of ASHI were present.

Training mainly related to soap making in different fragrance like Honey, Coffee, Orange, Hibiscus, peppermint, calamine, etc. The session was instructed by Agapi founder Rinzing Choden Bhutia and assisted by Purnima Lepcha

ASHI is a non-profitable organisation run many project for poor and weaker section of the society for their upliftment and resettlement. It basically runs five projects such as rehabilitation centre (Jagriti), Swadhar Greh, a correction home for women member, Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA), Family Counselling Centre (FCC) and CHILDLINE Gangtok Collab. Above mentioned programme mainly focused upon the beneficiaries’ new Skills generation, to generate a source of income for the survival in the society.

Agapi Sikkim, a Skincare Brand Product Company founded by Rinzing Choden Bhutia in 2019. Company has launched a variety of Skincare Product in state and national market. Mrs Bhutia is impaneled with Skill Development and Capacity Building Department as a resource person. She has conducted many training programs both in rural and urban part of Sikkim and company was featured on Femina Magazine in February 2022.

Finally, President of ASHI expressed her gratitude to the Women and Child Development, Government of Sikkim and Agapi Sikkim for the conduction of such a wonderful programme to the poor and helpless people. She also highlighted the important of such programme in poor people life and expects same types programme has to be conducted on timely basis for poor people in rural and urban area of Sikkim.
