SLSA conducts Walkathon to sensitize mass on social legal issues at capital

As per the directions of Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai, Judge, High Court of Sikkim & Executive Chairperson, Sikkim State Legal Services Authority, on the occasion of Legal Services Day falling on 09.11.2021 (Tuesday), and as a part of Pan India Awareness and Outreach Campaign from 2nd October, 2021 to 14th November, 2021 as a part of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” and Legal Services Week from 8th to 14th November, 2021, this Authority conducted a Walkathon on 07.11.2021 (Sunday) at 08:00 a.m.

The Walkathon was participated by the students of Sikkim Government Law College, Enchey Senior Secondary School and Modern Secondary School, members of Sikkim Running Group, and, Members of BAR Association of Sikkim.

The 5 kms Walkathon started from M.G. Marg taking various routes like Zero Point, Palace Gate, Kazi Road and ended at M.G. Marg.The objective of the Walkathon was to sensitize people about the various legal issues like Child Abuse, Environment, Domestic Violence, Child Labour, etc. through placards. The participants also distributed pamphlets along the way to the pedestrians.
