SDM Jorethang Mr Yogen Syangden conducted an inspection of various petrol pumps under Jorethang Sub Division, today.
He was accompanied by SDPO Jorethang Mr Kessang D Bhutia, along with officials from the Fire Department.
The primary objective of the joint inspection was to assess hygiene and cleanliness standards at the petrol pumps, as well as to verify the availability of essential facilities such as separate washrooms for male and female customers.
The team inspected the availability of hand wash and soap, the condition and functionality of separate toilets with 24×7 running water, provision of free air, presence of digital rate boards, “No Smoking” signage, a list of emergency contact numbers, and operational fire extinguishers.
During the inspection, it was observed that some petrol pumps had not installed digital rate boards. The fire extinguishers were also checked at all locations and instructed the replacement of those found to be non functional.
It was noted that all five petrol pumps had installed machines for providing free air. Also in terms of hygiene, most petrol pumps were found to be neat and clean with adequate availability of water, soap, and handwashing facilities.
However, at the South West Fuelling Station in Melli, the team found that there were no separate toilets for male and female users and directed the proprietor Mr Kisan Kumar Agarwal to make provision for separate toilet for male and female within a month.
The inspection was carried out for five petrol pumps namely, Karma Fuel Centre, Jorethang, Jindal Fuels, Majhitar, Shangrilla Oil Depot, Melli, Kuber Square Service Station, Jorethang Melli Road, South West Fuelling Station, Melli.
