Ravangla celebrates 42nd Pang Lhabsol festival with the theme Sikkim invokes Mt. Kanchendzonga

Namchi, Sept 07 (IPR): In continuation with the celebration of Pang Lhabsol festival at Ravangla, the Pang Lhabsol Celebration Committee (PLCC) organised cultural and sports event at Lal Bazar market, Ravangla today.

MLA Barfung and Advisor for Roads & Bridges Department, Mr Riksal Dorjee Bhutia, graced the day as the Chief Guest accompanied by Guest of Honour MLA Tumin-Lingee and Chairman State Trading Corporation of Sikkim Mr Samdup Tshering Bhutia.

During the course of the programme, Territorial Division of Forest & Environment Department, Ravangla, distributed passbooks to 23 beneficaries of Sishu Samridhi Yojana of Barfung constituency. The passbook has been distributed under Mero Rukh Mero Santati Chief Minister’s flagship scheme, where the passbook holds a one time deposit amounting to Rs 10,800 with interest rate of 7.5% per annum and can be withdrawn when the child reaches the age of 18.

During the programme educators serving as Principal and Headmasters in different schools were also felicitated by the PLCC for their dedicated service and exemplary achievements in the social and academic fields. Principal PM Shri Govt. Senior Secondary School Mangan Mr Karma Tempo, HM Govt. Primary School Mangbrue Mr Nim Tshering Lucksom and HM Govt. Primary School Kewzing Tea Garden Mr Mingma Gyatso Sherpa were the felicitated Pruncipals and Headmasters and all residents of Barfung constituency.

Following the process of felicitation, the representatives of the Tibetan community also felicitated the Chairpersons, OSDs, Heads of Offices and dignitaries as a gratitude for their support to the community in their growth and harmony. The trader’s community also presented their support through token of gratitude to the Pang Lhabsol Celebration Committee.

The day also featured Intra-Sikkim Volleyball Tournament where the team Tumin Lingee VC defeated the team of SAP-B VC (Sikkim Police) in the finals and emerged as the winner of the tournament. Mr Ajay Singh was awarded with the title of Man of the Series and Mr Binay Pradhan awarded with Man of the Match, where both the title holders belonged form the winning team of Tumin-Lingee VC. A blend of traditional cultural performances were also displayed to make the event extravagant along with a school band performance by the Sikkim Public School, Ravangla,.

Also present during the programme were Chairman LR&DM Mr T T Bhutia, Chairman Power Advisory Board Mr Sonam Pintsho Bhutia, Chairperson Women Commission Ms Teny Doma Bhutia, Managing Director SBS Mr Phurba Wangdi Bhutia, OSD IPR Department Mr Pema Chultim Bhutia, OSD to MLA Barfung Mr Shiva Kr Rai, OSD to MLA Tumin-Lingee Mr Keshav Nepal, ADC Ravangla Mr D P Dahal, SDM Ravangla Mr B B Dahal, ACF (T) Ravangla Mr Sanjeev Kr Rai, SDPO Ravangla Mr Roshan Rai and other dignitaries.
