The Central Committee of BTR Gorkha Samaj observed the 34th Nepali Language Recognition Day along with its 5th Foundation Day and 1st Convention at Saralpara, Kokrajhar district. The occasion was marked by the conferment of the BTR Gorkha Gaurav Samman on leading personalities for their service to society and the Gorkha community.
Among the awardees, Shri Raju Dhakal, General Secretary of the Assam Gorkha Sammelan and Officer on Special Duty to the CEM BTR Pramod Boro, was specially honoured for his strong advocacy of Gorkha rights and community leadership. Recognised as a consistent voice for the Gorkhas in Assam, Dhakal has championed issues such as the D-voter crisis, exclusion from biometric records, land ownership rights, and equitable political representation. His grassroots social initiatives in education, health, and welfare have also strengthened the socio-political awareness of the community.

The ceremony was attended by MLA Lawrence Islary, former ministers Chandan Brahma and former Deputy Chief BTC Kampa Borgoyary, along with representatives from different organisations.
The recognition of Raju Dhakal was widely hailed as a milestone moment for Gorkha advocacy, reflecting the growing role of Gorkha leaders in shaping the democratic, cultural, and political discourse of the Bodoland Territorial Region.
