The programme was organised by the Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority (SSDMA) in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), with the objective of strengthening community participation and ensuring transparent implementation of landslide risk reduction measures in the area.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Shri Prabhakar Rai, Director, SSDMA, who highlighted the objectives of the National Landslide Mitigation Project and its critical importance in addressing recurring landslide hazards in the Lumsey area. He emphasised that the project aims to enhance slope stability, safeguard lives and property, and strengthen long-term disaster resilience through scientific and sustainable mitigation measures.

A comprehensive geo-technical investigation report was presented by Shri Keshar Luitel, Additional Director, SSDMA. The presentation covered site-specific geological and geo-technical findings, identified risk zones, and proposed mitigation measures tailored to the local terrain and vulnerability profile. The proposed interventions aim to reduce landslide susceptibility while ensuring minimal environmental impact.

A public interaction session followed, moderated by Councillor Shri Milan Gautam, during which residents of the Lumsey and adjoining areas actively shared their concerns, suggestions, and expectations.
