Renjyong Mutanchi Rong Tarjum (Sikkim Lepcha Association), Mangan District Branch, on Saturday has written to Mangan District Collector over the death of a 24-year-old man who lost his life after falling from a bridge at Lower Dzongu.

“We the North District Lepcha Association have come to know that the bridge which was under RDD/PMGY was not completed even after a year. This bridge which was unfinished has led to a major accident which caused a death of a young man Mr. Rabjung Lepcha from Lum”, read the letter by the Association addressed to Mangan DC.

“The villagers had constantly requested the department for the bridge to be complete but till today they did not do so. Therefore we the North District Sikkim Lepcha Association request you to take strict action towards the department for their negligence in work and set justice to the victims family”, added the letter.

It is to be noted that in a tragic incident, a 24-year-old man identified as Rapjung Lepcha lost his life after falling from a bridge in Loom village, Lower Dzongu. The unfortunate event took place on Friday night as Rapjung was returning to his native village from Gangtok.

Eyewitnesses from the local village reported seeing Rapjung fall from the bridge, prompting immediate response from nearby villagers. Despite their efforts, Rapjung was found dead at the scene.
