Insurance awareness meets agricultural prosperity in Hee Gyathang

As part of the 9th Crop Insurance Week celebration, an awareness programme on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) was organized by the Agriculture Department, Mangan District at Hee Gyathang GPU, Dzongu today.

The event witnessed the presence of Panchayat President Ms Nima Lhamu Lepcha, Vice President Mr Sonam Dorjee Lepcha, Panchayat Members Mrs Nima Lukit Lepcha, Mr Achok Lepcha, Mr Lakpa Tshering Lepcha, FPO President Mr Samro Ugen Lepcha, ADO. Dzongu Mr Adarsh Rai, Agriculture Inspector Mr. Tashi Bhutia, Krishi Sewak Mr Yogesh Pradhan, along with farmers and staff of the Agriculture Department.

The programme commenced with a welcome address delivered by Agriculture Inspector .

Krishi Sewak, highlighted the benefits of Soybean variety KDS-992, enlightened farmers about its high oil content and how it fixes nitrogen biologically in the soil. 

ADO Dzongu, provided a detailed overview of the PMFBY scheme, detailing the premium rates and various benefits available to farmers under the scheme. He addressed the house regarding wild animal menace, how it has become a burning issue amongst the farmers and department is committed to raise this issue on a higher level. 

FPO President addressed the gathering regarding the cultivation practices of Soybean, benefits of joining FPO and  motivated the farmers to work for the betterment of their region.

Panchayat President addressed the gathering and urged the farmers to avail the benefits of the scheme. She was thankful towards the department for conducting such awareness programmes. 

Interaction with the farmers was a fruitful one. Wherein they gave a lot of feedbacks regarding different schemes and also stated their problems. ADO Dzongu ensured the farmers that the issues will be taken up and solved at the earliest. 

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms Punurip Lepcha (Marketing Assistant). The session was effectively moderated by Ms Choden Lepcha (Marketing Assistant).
